Isidor Philipp Exercises For Independence Of The Fingers Part 1 PDF download. For the intermediate and up, this book will hone and refine your fingering and sight-reading skills and greatly increase finger dexterity. For the serious student.
These exercises probably do more for a developing pianist than Hanon or Czerny because they actively engage your brain, your musical instincts, and the notion of physical connectivity to the instrument. Above all, they force you to think about tone quality. They form the notion that technique is not separate from tone, that good tone is assuredly a product of good technique and vice-versa.
This is most definitely not the kind of book your average 20 year old can put into practice with no guidance. It is essential to have a good guide to show you the extremely important nuances of this technique. If these exercises are practiced faithfully and with great consistency and patience (and this is no easy feat), it would be difficult to believe that one would not be prepared to meet even the most difficult masterpieces with relative ease.
I would highly recommend it for piano teachers who want to strengthen fingers, expand understanding of theory and harmony, and engage the brain while doing so. This is a classic, a standard. Good book!
